Cinco de Mayo in Marquette County: Where to celebrate Mexican Culture

Updated: 17 hours ago

Cinco de Mayo celebrates the Mexican army’s May 5, 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. It is not Mexico’s Independence Day, and although that is a common misconception, the day is celebrated in the USA to commemorate Mexican culture and heritage. Here’s some places locally who are celebrating the day with specials and deals!

La Catrina Cocina Mexicana

All kinds of fun stuff is going on at La Catrina on Wednesday. Here are some of the deals they are running:

  • $10 Chicken Fajitas

  • $9 Chimichangas

  • $9 Nachos Supreme

  • $7 Chicken Nachos

  • $3 Domestic Beer

  • $4 Mexican Beer

  • $5 Small Margaritas

  • $8 Patron Shots

And speaking of Patron shots, you can get a FREE LA CATRINA T-SHIRT with purchase of a tequila shot all day! As if you needed an excuse, right? Open from 11 a.m. - 10 p.m.

Up North Lodge

All day today, The Up North Lodge will be serving up Mexican Street Corn Nachos!

If you look closely at the picture, you’ll see a margarita back there behind the nachos.. so yeah, they’ve got you covered. Reservations are currently required at the Up North Lodge, and you can find a number to call to get your spot here.

Border Grill

To celebrate Cinco de Mayo week, Border Grill is bringing back Fajita Packs! Choose two meats from Fajita Steak, Chicken, Shrimp or Grilled Mushrooms. Also comes with a choice of two side from rice, beans and now refried beans!

Fajita Packs are available now through May 16th. Think you can order one twice before it goes away? I believe in you!

It’s got spiced pizza sauce, taco meat, pico, black olives and cheddar Jack cheese topped with our homemade Chipotle Aioli and lettuce.

Vango’s Pizza and Cocktail Lounge

They always have the Mexican Tuesday Deal, but Vango’s has some more fun up their sleeve for Cinco de Mayo! Enjoy margaritas, coronas and TWO DOLLAR TACOS!

They also have their normal Wednesday Happy Hour special today, which is 50 cents off all drafts. You can read about all of their daily happy hour specials by clicking here.

We have reached out to additional businesses to ask if they have specials available. As we get more information, we’ll add it here. Make sure to check back! Thanks for supporting local businesses on Cinco de Mayo, and everyday.
